George V. Rood, age 95 of Dayton, passed away October 10, 2010. He was born November 11, 1914 in Marietta, Ohio to Morse and Letha Rood.
George was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, WWII. He was an internationally known dog handler and Dog Show Judge, traveling to China and South America to judge. He received a "Lifetime Achievement Award" from the Doberman Pinscher Club of America in 2000 for his contributions to the breed. OnePocket.org and the Derby City Classics honored him with a lifetime of "Pool in Action" award in 2007.
He is survived by his God-daughter, Vicki Seiler; Nephew Tom Barnes; and many dear friends. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Road, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in George's memory to Widow's Home of Dayton, 50 S. Findlay St., Dayton, Ohio 45403; Hospice of Miami Valley, 46 N.
