George Marin, a beloved figure and cherished patriarch of his family, passed away on December 12, 2024, at the age of 83. Born on November 10, 1941, in Colon, Panama, George lived a life rich in experiences, filled with love, laughter, and the joys of family.
George was known affectionately as "The Godfather," a testament to his role as the cornerstone of his family. He had a great sense of humor and was always there for everyone in their times of need. Family was paramount to him, and he dedicated much of his time to creating memorable moments, especially through vacationing and traveling with his loved ones. He took great pride in fostering strong family bonds and was a guiding presence to all who knew him.
A proud member of the United States Army, George served his country with honor during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his service. His commitment to fitness and healthy living was evident throughout his life; he enjoyed golfing and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns. In his younger years, George played softball, showcasing his love for sports and teamwork.
He is survived by his brother, Jose Marin; sister, Zonia Gibson; stepdaughter, Stephanie Strobele, and her husband Joe; stepdaughter, Michelle Gordon; granddaughter, Danielle Card, and her husband Tom; grandson, Ryan Brindamour, and his wife Jessica; granddaughters, Alyssa and Breanna Strobele; and great-granddaughter, Lily Stukenborg. Additionally, he is remembered fondly by numerous nieces, nephews, and family members who adored him.
George is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gloria Marin; mother, Carmen Castillo; sister, Nazareth Marin; nephew, JJ Gibson; great-great-nephew, Maxwell Moore; and his cherished dog, Chica.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate George's life and legacy at the visitation on January 5, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by the funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM, both held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering, located at 3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, Ohio 45439.
George Marin will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched. His legacy of love, laughter, and strength will continue to resonate within the hearts of his family and friends.
