George H. Rogerson, 78, originally from Tacoma, WA, was ushered into heaven September 21, 2015, following a two-and-a-half-year struggle with leukemia. George is survived by his devoted wife, Debora; four children, Molly (Brian) Watts of Westerville, OH, Andrew (Nicole) Rogerson of London, OH, Jennifer (Michael) Bennett of Waxhaw, NC, Michael Rogerson of Louisville, KY and seven grandchildren, McLaren (17), Aubrey (16), Caroline (15), Phelan (14), Kiefer (12), Kelly (12) and Kyle (10), all of whom he dearly loved and was very proud. A graduate of the College of Puget Sound and post graduate of The Ohio State University, George proudly served six years in The United States Marine Corps and was subsequently commissioned in The United States Air Force, serving another 28 years. George was an author of historical fiction, having penned and published five books. He also dabbled in art and was a pretty darn good still-life painter. George was very well read, could converse on virtually any subject, loved history and travel, was very much a people person, generous beyond measure and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Funeral service will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Beavercreek Chapel, on Friday, September 25, 2015 at 12pm, with a visitation from 10am-12pm. Burial to take place following the service at Dayton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to either The James Cancer Hospital of The Ohio State University or Hospice of Dayton.
