George D. Patterson

George D. Patterson, age 73, of Highlands, NJ, and resident of Miamisburg, OH passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2014.

George served in the U.S. Army. He was the founder and President of the Brotherhood U.S. Army Veterans Association. George was an avid fisherman and boater. He was a very outgoing people person and will be most remembered by his vivacious character.

George was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Anna Patterson; brother, Michael Hemmer; grandmother, Annie Reynolds-Patterson; grandfather, John Stuart-Patterson; and granddaughter, Danielle Maree' Patterson.

He is survived by his son, George Patrick Patterson; daughter, Kathleen Coleman; grandchildren, Tara Manor, Kerri Patterson, Kaitlyn Ullrich, Alyssa Hart and Zachary Coleman; great-granddaughter, Stella Christman; sister, Sharon DeHaas; nephews, Christopher and Scott DeHaas; nieces, Cheryl and Kimberly Hemmer; and many other close relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 from 10-11am at Newcomer Funeral Home South Chapel (3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, OH 45439). The service will follow at 11am. Burial will take place at Highland Cemetery in Miamisburg, OH.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project.
