George D. "Don" Conwell, age 78 of Centerville, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 8, 2015. He was born December 5, 1936 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Phillip and Marigold Conwell.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Wilma Conwell; children: Corinne Conwell Galassi, George D. "Don" (Nancy) Conwell, Jr., Lewis (Melanie) Conwell and Faith Conwell; 13 grandchildren: Michael, Matthew (Christine), Morgan, Lydia (Mike), Andrea (Jason), Jessica, Jennifer (James), Eric (Arisa), Sterling, Christina, Meghann, Christopher (Amber) and Cody (Alyssa); 10 great-grandchildren: Ethan, Nicholas, Emily, Lauren, Max, Evelyn, Peter, Elaine, Isabelle and Abigail; brother, Arnold (Lois) Conwell; sisters: Beverly Hinkell and Denise (Jamie) Neal; brothers-in-law: Frank (Brenda) Fite, Fred (Dottie) Fite and William (Janice) Fite; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Don passionately loved Jesus and his family. He will be remembered as one who truly had a servant's heart. Don proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He enlisted as an Airman and retired as a Lt. Col. after 42 years of service. Don continued serving his country in Civil Service at the Federal Power Commission, Department of Energy, Joint Aeronautical Materials Acquisition Command and the Manufacturing Productivity, Industrial Base and Critical Materials Information Center.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Christ's Church, 3370 Upper Bellbrook Road, Bellbrook, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, from 2-3 pm. Burial will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Don's memory to either The Hospice of Dayton or the Wounded Warriors Project.
