George was born on October 23, 1938 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
He was the son of Adam and Ethel Brack. George is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sandra "Deanne" Brack, his children Lori Baker, Glenn Brack, and Chad Brack, and grandchildren Alison, Leah, Daniel, Jacob, Kayla and Tyler.
An avid golfer in his youth, George was a high school state champion in Hawaii when he was 16. He lettered all four years while in high school.
After graduating from St. Louis High School in Honolulu in 1956, George enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served honorably for four years. His service included a 13-month tour in South Korea.
George earned a B.S. degree from Wright State University and an MBA from the University of Dayton. Both of these degrees were earned attending night school. On his way to earning those degrees he also attended West Virginia State University and Miami University.
He is a graduate of the Leadership Dayton program. His professional certifications included CPA, Certificate in Management Accounting, Certified Administrative Manager, Certified Cash Manager, Certified Bank Compliance Officer, Certified Financial Manager, and Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager.
George's professional career included financial management positions with Miami Industrial Trucks, L.M. Berry & Co., Home Savings & Loan, Citizens Federal Savings and Fifth Third Bank, from where he retired in 2008.
While a bank officer he also served on the boards of over 20 nonprofit organizations, several as president or chair including Catholic Social Services, Housing Advisory Board of Montgomery County, Montgomery County Homeless Solutions Policy Board, Rebuilding Together Dayton, Sinclair Community College Foundation Board,
George also taught as an adjunct accounting professor at the University of Dayton, Wright State University and Sinclair Community College. He taught part-time at Sinclair for over 42 years.
For 19 years George ran Testmasters, an SAT preparation course for college-bound high school students.
George also coached youth basketball and soccer. He served as president of the Miami Valley Youth Soccer Association. He was the founder of Team Dayton, a select soccer team serving Dayton-area youth.
A proud father and grandfather, George took special pride in how he instilled a love of education in his children and grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at the Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton. A memorial service will begin at 3:00pm.
