George Linwood Bowles, age 90 of Dayton, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021 at his home in Dayton. He was born October 7, 1930 in Richmond, Virginia to the late Benjamin and Callie (Dent) Bowles.
Left to cherish George's memory are son, Brian Bowles; daughter Debi Bowles; brother, Barrington Bowles; sister, Doris Bowles, and several other relatives and friends.
George loved computers, cats, dogs, and his collies in particular. He was a long-standing member of the Collie Club of America, of which he had previously served as a judge for the Club's shows and competitions. He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan, who never missed their games on TV. George was a very hard worker. During his career, he was the head of several military labs, including one in Greenland. He also served as a lab technician at Springfield Community Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, and Wright-Patt Air Force Base. George had a great sense of humor. He was the king of dad jokes. Most of all, George enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Zelma (Fitzgerald) Bowles; daughter, Bridget Bowles; sisters: Bertha Bess, Eleanor Archer, Melinda Bowles, and Elizabeth Bowles; and brothers: Eugene Bowles, and Jacob Bowles.
