Age 96, passed away April 9, 2015 at Friendship Village Nursing Home.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Amanda Boggs; wife, Beatrice Boggs; sons, George Jr. and Kenneth Boggs; daughter, Brenda Berry; 6 siblings; 3 grandchildren; and dear friend, Ray Tidd.
He is survived by his children, Janet (Richard) Tibbs, Merrell (Joan) Boggs, Wilma (David) Ladd, Diane (Bill) Abbott, and Wendell (Pam) Boggs; sisters, Ella Washing and America Little; dear friend, Dolly Tidd; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous other dear family members and friends.
George was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He served during WWII where he received The Purple Heart. George also landed on The Normandy Beach invasion. He retired from Dayton Tire and Rubber after 30 years of service.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 13, 2015 from 12:00 pm until the time of service at 1:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd. Interment to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
