Zapfe, Georg Helmut, Age 86, from Arnstadt, Germany, passed away on February 16, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dora (Bing) and Paul Zapfe; and bothers
Manfred (Leonore) Zapfe and Norbert (Joyce) Zapfe and brother-in-law Werner Grunwald. He is survived by his twin sister Erika Grunwald, nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to express special appreciation to Mike Politte for his friendship and care. Along with his parents and sister, Georg moved to St. Louis, Missouri when he was 18 years old. He honorably served in the US Army for two years (1953-55) and in the Reserve for several years. Majoring in Chemistry at Washington University in St. Louis, Georg worked for United Technologies as a Quality Control Chemist for over 30 years. He moved to the Dayton area to be closer to his sister and both moved to the Carlyle House in 2018. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospice of Dayton or Alzheimer's Association Miami Valley Chapter.
