Gentry F. Worth, Jr. was born March 28, 1938 in Dayton, Ohio to Reverend Gentry F. Sr., and Lola Mae Worth. He is married to Betty L. Worth also from Dayton, Ohio. Gentry and Betty have one daughter Belinda and two grandsons, Albert Green and Kristian Jr. (Vanessa) from San Pedro, California. Two sisters, Doris Jean Worth from Dayton, Ohio and Pamela S. Jones from Cincinnati, Ohio. After graduating from high school, he was employed at National Register Company (NCR) until being drafted in the military in June 1960. Gentry served in the military for 28 years primarily in areas as Aviation and Medical property management. In addition to two assignments at Fort Lewis, Washington, with the Office of the Inspector General, Gentry also served in such places as Berlin Germany, Vung Tau Vietnam, Yongsan Korea, and San Pedro California, retiring as a Sergeant Major from Sharpe Army Depot, French Camp California in August of 1988. Gentry was employed by Praxair Distribution, Inc. as a Medical and Industrial gas filler, retiring in 1998 after 10 years and 13 years as a Demonstration and Service representative for the JVC Company of America at the military exchanges in Tacoma, Washington. Gentry is a graduate of the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy, has an Associate Degree from Fort Steilacoom Community college, a Bachelor of Arts degree from Evergreen State College, Olympia Washington.
Gentry was an ordained Deacon at New Salem Baptist Church in Tacoma, Washington, Past Chaplain for the Washington State Chapter, Retired Sergeants Major and Chiefs Association. Gentry is a Past Master of Egyptian Lodge #44 (1996), Served as Treasurer in 1998, Registration Committee Chairman for the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge in 1998. Served two Years as Illustrious Commander-in-Chief of Cascadian Consistory #75 (1999-2000). Gentry is a Grand Inspector General, of the 33rd and last degree, and past Secretary for the Commanders of the Rite, Washington State.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 11:00am at the Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton.
Graveside service will be held privately for immediate family at Dayton National Cemetery.
