Genevieve Barker, age 80, of Huber Heights, passed away on April 6, 2022. She was born on June 26, 1941 to the late Earl and Lena Smith.
She was among the very first graduating class of Mad River High School, now known as Stebbins, and she retired from her career as a legal secretary after 52 years. She met the love of her life, Gary, when she was 17, and they were married for 61 years. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was an avid reader of romance novels. She was a wonderful cook and loved baking cakes, cookies and brownies. She was known for the Sunday Dinners she made for her family. She will be greatly missed by everyone that loved her.
In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Juanita Barker.
Her memory will be cherished by her loving husband of 61 years, Gary G. Barker; her children: Gary T. Barker, Mark (Faith) Barker, and Tracy (Shane) Guillozet; grandchildren: Danielle (Ben) Carter, Nicholas Barker, Samantha (Billy Viers) Barker, Jessica (Brad) Cyphers, Thomas (Janice) Fryer, and Addison Guillozet; great-grandchildren: Ella, Miley, Isla, Jaxx, Genevieve, Claire, Lucas, Vivian, Elaina, and Evelyn; siblings, Virginia Lee Aikman and Norris Smith; and nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A visitation will be held from 12:30pm to 1:30pm on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, where the funeral service will begin at 1:30pm. A burial will follow at Willow View Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
