Genesis Kristina Vazquez, age 19 of Kettering, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Kettering Medical Center. She was born September 21, 2001 in Sanford, Florida.
She is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Albert Vazquez.
Genesis is survived by her loving parents, Rebecca and Kyle Stansell and Adam and Alex Vazquez; siblings, Christopher, Izzy and Logan; uncles and aunts, José, Albert, Eric, Roberto, JB, Chad, Dave, Chuck, Tommy, Enivette, Anita, Lilia, Angel, Licia, Yiselle, Brandy, Dalma, Melinda, Aracelis; grandparents, Asuncíon and America Ramirez, Yolanda Vazquez and Carlos Torres, Tim and Tina Stansell, Marti and Jim Brinegar; numerous cousins and extended family members; as well as many friends, including childhood friends, Alyssa Mahle, Sydney Lawrence, Kennedi, Colin and Austin Gavin.
Genesis graduated from Fairmont High School in 2019 and was currently in her sophomore year at the University of Dayton, majoring in Forensic Psychology. At Fairmont, she was involved in the Color Guard and Winter Guard. More recently, she spent the last 2 years spinning in the Color Guard as a member of the Pride of Dayton. In the words of Mr. Will, "Genesis poured her heart and soul into every single rehearsal and performance - but will be remembered for her uplifting spirit, positive attitude and her wonderful sense of humor." In addition to her love of color guard and dance, she loved music and played the violin and was also great at karaoke. Genesis loved the beach and traveling. She was a free spirit, a leader, and was the best big sister who lived for her siblings.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Newcomer Centerville Chapel (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd., Dayton, Ohio 45459). A Celebration of Life will begin at 5:00 pm. Genesis was a bright light in everyone's life, so feel free to wear your bright colors and come as you are.
