Gene West

Gene T. West, age 83, of West Carrollton, passed away on May 4, 2016 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born on October 15, 1932, in Brown County, Ohio, to the late Ralph and Marie (Work) West.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 24 years, Carol West and his brother, Dale West.

Gene is survived by his loving daughter, Diane McConnell; son, Dennis G. (Tonnia) West; step-son, Dave (Joya) Murr; step-daughter, Connie (Steve) Finch; 2 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 5 step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Cupp, Alice Fisher; brother, William (Jeanie) West; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Gene served his country in the United States Army, 7th Division and was a member of Winchester Lodge No. 236 F.&A.M. for 53 years. He worked for DP&L for 41 years, as well as Elder Beerman part-time for 28 years. Gene and Carol enjoyed traveling in their RV and made it to all but 6 of the 48 contiguous states.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 6, 2016 from 4:00 pm. to 6:00 pm. at Newcomer Funeral Home- Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, OH. Memorial service will begin at 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Dayton in Gene's memory.
