Gayle Sowder

SOWDER, Gayle Denise (Jones) age 57 of Springboro, passed away Friday, June 20, 2008 at 8:50 P.M. at Kettering Medical Center after complications from surgery due to cancer. Gayle worked as the Office Manager-Travel Agent for Huffman Travel in Oakwood and was responsible for handling the travel arrangements for the Special Wish Foundation of Dayton. Gayle was a wonderful person who enjoyed sharing her life with her family. She was an avid homemaker, gardener and shopper. She was a wonderful wife to her husband Jim and a great mother to her two kids, Justin and Whitney Sowder. Gayle is also survived by her mother, Anita Jones (Herman); sisters and brothers-in-law Sandy and Bob Mills, and Kim and Chris McMullen; brother and sister-in-law Greg and Laura Jones; mother in-law Evelyn Sowder; brother in law Robert Sowder and wife Patty of Minnesota, and Kenneth and wife Ferris Sowder of Utah; nieces and nephews Dee Cordell and husband Dan, Tim and wife Melissa Mills, Doug and wife Heather Mills, Jennifer and husband Todd Pelfrey, Shawn and Patrick McMullen, Jacob and Jacqueline Jones, and Karl and Katie Sowder; eight great nieces and nephews; and numerous other friends and relatives. Gayle was preceded in death by her grandmother Bessie Herman on February 9, 1997, and her father Cleo Jones on April 3, 2007. A memorial service will be held Friday, June 27, 2008 at Newcomer's Funeral Home in Beavercreek from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Special Wish Foundation of Dayton.
