Gary Grant Raines

Gary Grant Raines, age 58, of Dayton, passed away July 13, 2021. He was born February 26, 1963 in Dayton, Ohio to the late William Clyde and Fleta Bell Raines. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his sister, Sheila Hicks; brothers: William "Big Bo" Raines, Billy Thomas, Tim Ray, Tommy Raines and Houbert Raines, Sr.; and mother-in-law, Blanche Norrod.

Gary is survived by his wife of 38 years, Marlene Raines; children: Gary Raines, Jr. (Shane) and Jessica Raines; grandchildren: Matthew Grant and Brooklynn Marlene; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Mitch Spencer, Monetta Rose, Jeff Spencer, Sally Raines and Betty Secrist; numerous special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Gary grew up in Old North Dayton and met the love of his life when he was just 14 years old. Gary and Marlene married December 11, 1982 and raised an amazing family. Gary was very proud of his family and his community. He retired from the City of Dayton, where he held many jobs and accomplished many things. Gary was most proud of his family and he left a legacy that will follow him for generations to come. If Gary ever met you, he left an imprint on your life. He loved, cared and looked out for everyone. He was the best husband, father, grandfather and friend who ever lived.

Visitation will be held from 1-4 pm on Sunday, July 18, 2021 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, where the funeral service will begin at 4:00 pm.
