Gary Dale Lawson

Gary Dale "Pappy" Lawson, age 86, of Riverside, passed away September 3, 2020, at his residence. He was born in Clay City, Kentucky, on June 3, 1934, the son of the late David and Vera Lawson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pappy is survived by his beloved wife, Ruth Lawson; children, Jesse Woods and Allie Woods; grandchildren, Tessa, Cassidy, Jesse James, Riley, Cadence and Brady; great grandchild, India Nicole; sister, Ruby Wagner; nephews, Mike (Leah), Harold, Steve Roundtree and Jill; and many other loving nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

He retired from Putnam Plastics, where he was employed in the Shipping/Receiving Department for over 30 years. Pappy served his country proudly by serving in the United States Army. He was a life member of AMVETS #24 and the American Legion Post #619 for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed tinkering in his garage and spending time at Grand Lake, St. Mary's with his "Lake Family". Everyone who knew Pappy, knew how big of a heart he had under his tough exterior. He is going to be greatly missed by everyone who knew him, especially his devoted family.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm- 6:00 pm on Thursday, September 10, 2020, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, where services will begin at 6:00 pm, with Rev. Andrew Brewster officiating.
