Gary A. Hickox

Gary A. Hickox, age 78, of Miamisburg, OH passed away peacefully at home on December 3, 2019 with his family at his side. Gary was born on September 6, 1941 in Batavia, NY to Chester and Marion (Burger) Hickox. Gary married Doris E. Hickox (Ward) in Brockport, NY, on November 29, 1974.

Most of his working career, Gary was a Sales Manager for Firestone Tires. He also worked driving school bus, teaching drivers' education and removing snow. Gary had a charming personality and smile. He loved to socialize and maintained his wonderful sense of humor even throughout his illness. Gary had a love for cars, a favorite was his "souped-up" Corvair. He also enjoyed target shooting and taught his daughter, Amy, when she was little. He was a loving, caring and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Through his adult life, Gary's guiding light was his Christian faith. He was most recently a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Bellbrook, OH.

Along with his loving wife, Doris, Gary leaves behind a legacy consisting of his daughter, Amy Victoria Hickox; granddaughter, Adison Mae Hickox; brother, John (Betty) Hickox; sister, Anita (Paul) Tobler; a loving niece; several nephews, cousins and friends.

There will be no formal visitation. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 820 Miamisburg-Centerville Road, Dayton, Ohio, with Pastor Darrell Messer officiating. Gary will be interred on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 11:00 am in the Evergreen Burial Park in Roanoke, VA.
