Gary A. Benbow, age 75, of Dayton, passed away Friday, March 17, 2023. He was born February 25, 1948 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Mark and Lorine (Hussong) Benbow. Gary was a graduate of Belmont High School, and went on to serve in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. Gary excelled at his career as a Recreational Therapist due to his gift of making people smile and laugh along with his caring and deliberate manner. He had a very engaging personality that put those around him at ease and drew people to him.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his spouse Walt "Joe" Wildenhaus. He is survived by his two sons Mark "Eric" (Melissa) Benbow and Todd (Angela) Benbow along with his two granddaughters Arielle and Alia Benbow. He is also survived by his cousins Tom (Kelley), Bob, Cindy Parker; his aunt Phyllis Parker and other special family and friends Doug (Debbie) Sharp and Bob Blue.
Gary had a joyful spirit and will be remembered for being kind, generous and loving. Always with a smile to inspire smiles in others, his goofy nature always left a positive impression on all those around him - from family and friends, to the tenant down the hallway or the grocery store cashier. His kind soul will be profoundly missed by many.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Woodland Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, 118 Woodland Avenue, Dayton, Ohio.
