BROCK, Garvin M, age 89, of Beavercreek, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2011 at his home. He was born March 17, 1922 in Tell City, IN. He was a resident of Dayton for 15 years and Beavercreek for 54 years. He served in the Navy during WWII in the South Pacific. Mr. Brock was employed and retired from Wright Field as a Tool Maker after 30 years of service. He then worked for Skytec Tool Inc. for 10 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Winfield and Lillian (Hendershot) Brock; wife of 69 years, Katherine Brock; son, Karl Brock; grandson, Darrell Brock; brothers, Forrest and William Brock, and sister, Inez Burton. Garvin is survived by his children, Garvin M. (Frances) Brock, Jr., Charles Alan Brock, and Nancy Lynn Hughes; sisters, Frances Smith, Opal Simmering, Janet Voshel, and Judy Burge; brothers, James, Norman, and Charles Brock; 6 grandsons; 6 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, September 19, 2011 at Valley View Memorial Gardens, 170 N. Valley Rd., Xenia. Family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the time of service at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250 (Attn: Gift Processing). If desired, flowers may be sent to the cemetery.
