Garry R. Shively

Garry R. Shively, age 67, passed away Monday, April 24, 2023 at Hospice of Dayton. Garry was born in Dayton, Ohio on May 12, 1955 and was a graduate of Fairmont East High School in Kettering, Ohio. He was retired from WPAFB and was a long time member of the painters union.
Garry loved the outdoors and spent much of his free time fishing, hiking, and gardening. A lifetime fan of the Bengals and the Buckeyes, Garry never saw them win a Super Bowl, but saw Ohio State win multiple championships. Additionally, he enjoyed watching horse racing. Garry loved music and saw many concerts by legendary acts. His favorite artists included The Beatles, The Allman Brothers, George Strait, and Frankie Valli.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Shively; father, Willis Shively; sister, Joyce Botko; and brother, Steven Shively.
Garry is survived by Nora, his love wife, friend, and companion of 32 years; daughters, Jamie and Chandel Brenner; brother, Thomas Shively; dog, Fiona; and cat, Belle.
A memorial service celebrating Garry's life will be held for family and friends on Sunday, June 4, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Kettering VFW Post 9927 (3316 Wilmington Pike, Kettering 45429).
