LEONARD, Garnet W. (nee Weaver) Jones, age 91, of Kettering and formerly of Akron, passed away Sat., July 23, 2005 at Oak Creek Terrace. She was the daughter of the late Elizabeth & Paul Weaver. Also preceding her in death her 1st husband Donald and infant son Jack Jones, 2nd husband Francis Leonard and brother Richard Weaver. Garnet is survived by 2 sisters Betty Calder of CA and La Verne Pease of AZ; her son Frank Jones & wife Rita of Kettering; 2 grandchildren Jennifer Crossley & husband Michael and Jeffery Jones & wife Darla and great-granddaughter Emma Elizabeth Jones. At the beginning of her work career, Garnet worked at the American Hard Rubber Co. for 28 cents/hour. During W.W.II, she worked at Goodyear Aircraft helping in the war effort by her production work in building dirigibles. Following the war, she finished her career working for Polsky's Dept. Store in Akron, retiring after 25 years of service. Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M., Thurs., July 28, 2005 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 901 E. Whipp Rd. Bishop Ron Dibble conducting. Interment Miami Valley Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 7 - 9 P.M. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering Blvd. A heartfelt thank you to the entire staff of Oak Creek Terrace Assisted Living Center, Kettering. In lieu flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Dayton in Garnet's memory.
