Garldene "Gar" Laycox, 91, of Florida, formerly of Kettering, passed away Friday, August 19, 2016.
He was born May 5, 1925 in Cookeville, TN to the late Daniel and Larence Laycox Bozart, and was raised in Ohio.
He was a Marine Corp Veteran, serving our country in WWII. Gar was retired from GM/Harrison Radiator after 30 years of service. An avid fisherman and hunter, and was the local handyman in his neighborhood.
Gar was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Catherine. He was also preceded by his parents and sisters.
He is survived by his children, Dennis (Sherry) Laycox, Rolayne Belcher, Kathy (Dan) Green, Gerry Chandler, Van (Tina) Laycox; many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; brother, Ardell (Hildred) Laycox ; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 12:30 pm on Friday, October 14, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm. Inurnment at Dayton National Cemetery at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VA Hospice in Gar's memory
