Gale Kenyon Purnhagen, age 85, passed away on September 6, 2013 at VA Hospice.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ohmer & Daisye (Funkhouser) Purnhagen, and sister, Carolyn Duncan.
Gale honorably served in the US Navy from 1946-1948 as a Seaman 2nd Class. After his time with the Navy, he worked for General Motors, Delco Products until he retired.
He was an amazing Husband, Dad and Grandpa who enjoyed playing cards and games with his kids and grandkids. Gale loved animalsand the squirrels especially loved him!) He loved to play pool with his family all together at King's Table. (He even sometimes let them win). He was a fantastic Trivia Buff, no matter if it were the subject of the Bible or Politics.
He loved the song Amazing Grace, but loved his wife and family the most.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Carolyn Joyce (Cherry) Purnhagen; children: Keith Purnhagen, Vicki (& Rick) Fraley, Doug (& Sandy) Purnhagen, Karla (& Darrell) Glass, Kim Buckhannon, and Keri (& Paul) Steinbrugge; grandchildren: April (& Roger), Tim (& Mary), Chris (& Amanda), Gwendolyn (& Kevin), Ricky (& Kim), Devin, Derik, Joshua, Mikaila and Kylee; great-grandchildren: Cory, Chelsea, Chase, Courtney, Liam, Makeal, Konner, Elijah, Mason and Gabriel; and great-great-grandchildren: Miley and Rebecca, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held, 10 -11 AM, Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Beavercreek, OH.
Funeral Service immediately following at 11 AM.
Interment at Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
