HAMMOND, Gaither L.(G.L.), born July 1, 1922 in Wayne County, KY., passed away October 28, 2004 at the VA Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Hammond; son, James (Linda) Hammond of TX.; daughter, Brenda (Brian) Halk of Springfield, OH.; 5 grandchildren, Julie (Jason) Dunbar, Christie Hammond, Jamie Hammond of TX, Kimberly Beckett and Robert Beckett of OH. He is also survived by 2 brothers, Harold Jewell and Robert (Pat) Jewell; 4 sisters, Edith (Fred) Harris of IN., Elsie (Milton) Shaw, Gladys (Gene) Wright, Margaret (Regel) Godsey all of KY. He was a member of First Baptist Church of West Carrollton, John W. Durst Masonic Lodge 716, Scottish Rite and the Lone Star Veterans Post 28 in Dallas, TX. Gaither retired from Dayton Rubber (Firestone) after 30 years of service and was a veteran of the US Army, serving with the 29th Division throughout World War II. Funeral services will be held 2:30PM Monday, November 1, 2004 at Newcomer Farley Funeral Home 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering. Visitation will be held from 3:00PM until 5:00PM Sunday, October 31, 2004. Interment will be at Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
