Gail Louise Johnson

January 23, 1951 — February 10, 2025

Gail Louise Johnson, a beacon of love and generosity, passed away on February 10, 2025, leaving behind a legacy that will forever warm the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her. Born on January 23, 1951, Gail was a gift to this world; her culinary talents and vibrant spirit made her a cherished figure in her community. She was not only a wonderful cook but also skilled in bartending, sharing her talents at the Elk's Lodge and many family gatherings where her food was often the highlight.

Gail's unmatched kindness defined her existence. As one of the most loving and generous individuals to have ever graced the planet, she embodied the very essence of compassion. This was evident in her countless acts of selflessness, always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. Her heart was a haven for others, and she often provided meals at the local church, making sure that no one went hungry.

Her proudest accomplishments were not mere accolades, but rather the love and dedication she poured into her family. She worked hard to create a nurturing environment for her children-Robert Johnson Jr., D'Licia Stokes (Erskine), and Charles Johnson (Gretchen)-who carry forward her spirit of diligence and care. Gail also delighted in being a grandmother to her beloved grandchildren, Deontáe, DA'Shawn, Jelani, Brett, Zavian, Victoria, Ezra and many more, each of whom brought her immeasurable joy.

Gail's memory will also be carried by her siblings—Raphael Smith Jr., Keith Smith, Joyce Smith, and Alton Brown, with whom she had a special bond.one of shared laughter and unwavering support. She held a special place in her heart for her nephew, Trey, two nieces, LaChanda and TaLena, special friends, Serita Pittman and Regina Johnson, and her family extended far and wide, including a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were enriched by her kindness.

Though her parents, Raphael Smith and Louise Ratliff, precede her in death, their legacy lived on through Gail’s loving actions and her generous spirit, which touched the lives of many.

As we remember Gail Louise Johnson, let us celebrate a life that truly made a difference—a life devoted to love, family, and kindness. Her memory will be eternally cherished in the hearts of her loved ones and the community she so fervently served.
