G. Marie Heizer died on Sunday May 8th at Hospice of Dayton. She was born May 22, 1922 in Mariba, KY to late G. Greene Gose and Spicy Gose.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 ½ years, Vern Heizer Sr, her son in-law Don Lowe, 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Marie worked many years in the cafeteria for the Kettering city Schools, as well as a sales clerk for Marshall's Fashions at the Dayton Mall. She was a member of the VFW Post 9927 and an Eastern Star.
Marie had 4 children, 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. She is survived by her daughter Sharon Marie Lowe of Kettering, daughter Barbara Book (Phil) of Vandalia, daughter Joyce Pendell (Steve) of Bellbrook, and her son Vern Heizer Jr. of Fairborn. Her grandchildren, David Chesnut (Lisa) and his children Lauren and David Jr., Dustin Lowe (Patty) and his daughter Capree Ann-Marie, Mike Chesnut (Peggy) and his children Brittany, Lan, and Rhiannon, Gary Pendell (Missy) and his children Cora, Jake, and Chase, Crystal Dawn-Marie Price (Chad) and her son Layne Scott Phillips and daughter Ceirra, Joey Pendell (Ashley) and his children PJ and Aiden, and Ashley Pendell (Ian). Marie is also survived by a sister, Hester Mullins, of Mariba KY, and many nieces and nephews. Marie loved to dance, cook for her family, have an occasional "Highball", read, go "down home", have a good time at the VFW, and most importantly she loved her family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Newcomer Funeral Home (South Chapel) with Dr. Reverend Mike Castle, of Cross Creek Church, officiating. Interment will follow the service at David's Cemetery in Kettering. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 9:00 A.M. until time of services. A special thanks to all the physicians that provided excellent care to mom during the past years, to Liberty Retirement Community, and to Hospice of Dayton. Rest in Peace. You are now pain free.
