Fumie Nii Yoshida was born in Placer, California on February 3, 1935, to George Fusaichi Nii and Shizue Kajahara Nii; the third of six children. During WWII, she and her family were interned at Tula Lake, California returning to Lincoln, California at the conclusion of the war. She graduated college from Sacramento State and became a teacher in 1956.
She married Noble Yoshida on August 12, 1961, in Penryn, California and moved to Kettering, OH, working as a teacher where they started their family. Once her daughter Annette was born in 1968, she spent the next 27 years as a homemaker and mother, she also gave birth to David in 1977. She remained very active in the communities she called home in Kettering, OH; Arlington Heights, IL; and Chillicothe, OH.
She had a gift for hospitality and volunteering, hosting many dinners and gatherings for friends and family alike and giving her time and energy to the community. Notable organizations she volunteered with include Walnut Street United Methodist Church, PEO, The Thrift Store, and the Pump House Art Gallery.
In 1995, at the age of 61 she went back to school to get recertified as a teacher and began working as a substitute teacher for several years.
After her husband Noble's retirement, they spent many years traveling and spending time with their children and grandchildren.
Fumie moved back to Kettering in 2017, after the passing of her husband. They had always talked about moving back to Kettering and this was closer to Annette and David.
She is remembered by her daughter Annette and son-in-law Rob with grandchildren Brandon Lee Lively and Kenneth Doyle Lively and great-grandchildren Rebecca Arya Skye Lively, Victoria Christina Lively and son David and daughter-in-law Amanda with grandchildren Kylie Nobara Yoshida, Wesley Nobuo Yoshida and William Noble Yoshida.
