Fredrick Chase Furnas

Fredrick Chase Furnas passed away at the age of 78 in his home on August 5, 2017. Born September 17, 1938 in Huntington, Indiana, Fred was a Navy veteran who proudly served in the Vietnam War.

Fred was a racing fan enthusiast, often racing his own cars on the dirt track. His love for racing developed into a love for NASCAR as well. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sharing his military memories and passion for cars with his family and friends.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marjorie Furnas. He is survived by his wife, Lodia; sister, Nancy Griggs (Bob); sons: Scott, Jeff and Robert Furnas; daughters: Kristy Brown, Betty Wilder (Tim), Diana White (Mark) and Kim Self (Mark); grandchildren: Jessica (Mike), Michael (Tina), James, William, Kara, Austin, Dustin, Brady, Haley, Blake, Kennedy, Jacob, Allyson, Joseph and Justin; great-grandchildren: Julieana, Aden, Alivia, Bradyn and Addison; nieces: Jeannie and Sue; special friends: Sue and Don; and many other cherished loved ones.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:30 pm on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, where military honors and sharing of family and friends will begin at 2:30 pm. To send a special message to the family, please click on Share Memories.
