Freda (Evans) Oney

Freda Oney (Evans), age 82 of Dayton, OH passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024. She was born on October 17,1941 in Neon, Kentucky. She was the beloved wife of late Clay Wayde Oney Jr. She also preceded in death by her five siblings. Lester Evans(Alma), William Evans, Margie Seals, Beulah Watts(Lenard) and Bernice Rushbrook.

Freda and Wayde had a wonderful life together where they had 3 children, Kim (Rex), Tracy (Nathaniel), and Kelly (Walt). Freda and Wayde's life eventually evolved together as they were blessed as grandparents to Cody (Katie), Amber, Sterling (Emily), Jaymee (Jacob), Brooke (Justin), Kirstyn, Ashton, Sydney, and Samantha. If being grandparents wasn't joyful enough for the two of them, they became great grandparents to 10 grandchildren.

Freda came from a large family and enjoyed family gatherings. She enjoyed laughing with her girlfriends and playing scrabble and cards with family. As a mom, she provided a shoulder to cry on, and always reassured her children and grandchildren that they could get through any and all tough times. She showed her love with her warm hugs and homecooked meals.

Freda will be truly missed. The blessing is knowing she is with God and other family members in heaven, and she is at peace knowing the love and memories she left behind.

Public visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton Xenia Rd) on Friday January 26, 2024 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral service to be held the following day January 27, 2024 at 10:00 am. Freda will be laid to rest next to her husband at Valley View Memorial Gardens.
