Freda O'Bryan

May 12, 1958 — March 18, 2020

On March 18, 2020, Freda Sue O'Bryan of Kettering, Ohio, age 61, went to her eternal home in Heaven, joining all those she loved who went before her. She was born on May 12, 1958 in Dayton, Ohio to the late John K. and Elberta F. Grubb, both formerly of Dayton.

Freda had 8 brothers and sisters: Jerry N. Walker, Larry H. Walker, Ronald E. Walker, Estill Grubb, Nita J. Watern, and Doris Grubb-Terrell, who are all deceased. And Sandra R Nelson, and Mark Baller, who still survive. She is also preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Fred E. Watern, whom she considered to be like a second father.

Freda leaves behind 2 children, Jessica (John) Bray and Ronnie O'Bryan both of Dayton; grandchildren, Bentley Bray, Leilani O'Bryan, Emmaline Bray, Madison Bray; K-9 granddaughter, Willow; her beloved cat, Tiger; Aunt Brenda (Doug) Scott; Uncle Sam (Shirley) Wells; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews (including special nephew Steve (Becky) Grubb), and many beloved friends.

Freda graduated from Stivers High School in Dayton, Ohio in 1976. She retired from The Franklin Foundation in 2019, where she was the manager of Kettering Park Manor for 7 years. She loved her job and all of her residents and coworkers there dearly. She considered her bosses, Ellen Hayden and Lynn Dalton to be more like extended family. Before that, she worked for Kindercare in Kettering and was the head of her department at Pottinger Insurance for many years before that.

Freda was an extremely caring and loving person. She took pride in taking care of those she loved. She never forgot a birthday and always sent a card. She had a strong personality, and a blazing sense of humor and she was the life of any party. Her hobbies included spending time with her grandbabies (they were the light of her life), watching HGTV, lunch and shopping outings, cleaning, organizing family get-togethers, and caring for children and those she loved. To truly know her was to love her, and she will be greatly missed by all.

Freda and her family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to her Crossroads Hospice team, especially her immediate nurses, Steve and Lauri.

Out of an abundance of caution for the wellness of our friends and family, a celebration of life service will be planned for a later date, after the COVID-19 crisis is resolved.

Memorial contributions may be made in Freda's remembrance to Dayton Vineyard Church, 4051 Indian Ripple Rd Beavercreek, Ohio 45440.
