Freda Maxine Gabbard

Freda Maxine Gabbard, age 81 of Dayton, Ohio, passed away Friday, August 23, 2019. She was born August 18, 1938 in Athens, Ohio, to the late Carl and Edith Coe.

Maxine was a devoted minister's wife and a loving mother and grandmother. She was a life-long care-giver who always welcomed anyone into her home and adopted many people over the years. She allowed others to shine which made her shine even more.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. James D. Gabbard, Sr; her siblings, Luella, Pauline, Harold, Lucille, Goldie, Edith, Travis and Connie.

Maxine will be missed by her loving children, Cathy M. (Roger) Mackie, Jim D. (Mary) Gabbard, Jr., Terry L. Gabbard, Freda L. (Earnest) Isaacs, Mary E. Gabbard, Rebecca A. (Tim) Collins and Penny D. Gabbard; 20 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; brother, John (Betty) Coe; brother-in-law, Ray (Phyllis) Gabbard; sister-in-law, Betty Coe; and many nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Tuesday, August 27, 2019 from 12 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton. Burial to immediately follow the service at Bearcreek Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to her family to go towards a plaque that will be made in her name at the Hospice of Dayton.
