Fred Sargent, age 77 of Dayton, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021. He was born May 18, 1944 in Harlan County, Kentucky to the late Rufus and Edith Sargent.
Fred was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He grew up in the hills of Kentucky as a coal miner's son. At a young age, Fred began working in the coal mines to help support his family. Fred moved to Dayton, Ohio where he worked in a factory. He met Linda Fields and to that union had their son, Mark. Fred attended the Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Dayton. He had a calling from God to move people with prayer and had such a good way with people. Fred never knew a stranger and cared about so many people. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Fred is preceded in death by his wife, Linda; and brother, Terry Sargent.
Fred will be missed by his son, Mark (Lois) Sargent; grandchildren, Mallie Sargent and Nathan Berry; siblings, Jerry Sargent, Gary Sargent, Roger Sargent, Sheila Gilbert, Sharon Adkins; and many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Apostolic Lighthouse Church, 2221 Harshman Rd., Dayton, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Rev. Bradley Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery, Brookville, Ohio. Arrangements by Newcomer North Chapel, Dayton.
