Manes, Fred A. Jr., age 75, of Dayton, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2008 at Hospice of Dayton. Fred was raised in the Methodist Church, he was a United States Air Force Veteran retiring with 20 years of service, and loved flying radio controled airplanes, NASCAR, and golf.
Fred is survived by his wife of 34 years: Shirley; sons and daughters-in-law: Val (Chris) Manes of South Dakota, John (Borg) Manes of Riverside; daughters and son-in-law: Lori Manes of Kettering; Cherie (Terry) Smith of Miamisburg; Michelle Manes of Kettering, Ashley Manes of Kettering; grandchildren: Grace-Ann Manes, Kelsey Manes, Emmalee Manes, Caralynn Manes, Tyler Smith, Kyle Smith, and one on the way; brother: John Manes of AZ; sister: Grace Augsburger of NY; and numerous other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Fred Sr. & Ilene (Walker) Manes.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at the Newcomer Funeral Home (South Chapel) 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering with Pastor Russell Gross officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. until time of services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Caner Society. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Assured Health Care and Hospice of Dayton for their wonderful and loving care of Fred.
