Fred Krach

March 7, 1937 — August 16, 2022

Fredrick "Fred" G. Krach, 85, of Dayton, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022. He was born March 7, 1937 in Evansville, IN, to the late Fredrick and Marie Krach. He proudly served his country as a commissioned officer in the Infantry Corp of the United States Army.

After high school, Fred continued his education by earning a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at University of Cincinnati. He was a loyal employee at The Mound Laboratory, retiring after 20 years. He was a member of the Society for Mechanical Engineers, National Society of Professional Engineers, and a member of The Mound Flying Club. He was very proud of the opportunity to work as a professor at Sinclair Community College. His list of previous employers includes NASA, The Department of Energy, and The Department of Defense.

During retirement, Fred was an avid photographer. He had the eye of an artist and could capture the essence of nature through the lens. Fred also enjoyed woodworking classes and the cherry table in his home is evidence of his skill. He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunting, fishing, and beautiful scenery.

Fred loved the Lord and was a member at St. Francis of Assisi in Centerville, OH. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be missed dearly.

Fred leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory, including his wife of 62 years, Holly Krach; children, Andrew Krach of Cincinnati, OH, Laura Krach, of Sedona, AZ, and Kenneth (Linda) Krach of Troy, TX; grandsons, Aaron and Liam Krach of Troy, TX; brother, Michael (Pepper) Krach of Philadelphia, PA; and many other family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Krach; and his brother, Jack (Mary Ann) Krach.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, August 22, 2022 beginning at 12noon at St. Francis of Assisi Church (6245 Wilmington Pike, Dayton, OH 45459), with a Visitation the hour prior. Fred's final resting place will be at Middle Run Cemetery in Bellbrook, OH.
