Carpenter, Fred, age 70, of Dayton, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 26, 2013.
He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, proudly serving in the United States Navy.
Fred was a volunteer at the National Museum of the United States Air Force, and was also a longtime volunteer as a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America. He was a retired Applications Engineer.
Fred was preceded in death by his son, Michael Carpenter, his parents, Clyde and Ruth Carpenter, sisters Jeannie Fardo, and Vivian Palmer.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Nancy (Day) Carpenter; daughter, Mary Lokai; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Marvin Carpenter; sisters, Becky (Jess) Schultz, Marybeth England; sisters in law, Sheryl (Jack) Perry, Carol (Rick) Frymeyer, Marilyn (Dean) Miracle; brother in law, David (Mary) Day; and numerous nieces , nephews; and his special canine companion, "Layla".
Fred was a devoted husband and a loving father and was loved by all of his family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton in Fred's memory.
