ZIMMARO, Frank (Francesco), 91, of Dayton passed away peacefully Monday, August 1, 2011 in his son's home. He was born October 6, 1919 in Mongone, Italy. At the age of 13, he immigrated to the United States, and became a US citizen in 1941.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents Santo and Maria Zimmaro; his first wife, Marcella; his only brother, Antonio; and brother and sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Pandolfo Pandolfi, and Mr. and Mrs. Ivo Pandolfi in Italy.
He is survived by his current wife, Louise; son and daughter-in-law Santo "Sam" and Diane Zimmaro; grandsons Aaron (Heather) Zimmaro and Justin (Tracy) Zimmaro; great grandchildren Nicholas, Anthony, Gianna, Dominic, and Carson; several nieces: Launa Kane, Maria Marrone, Ornella Rainero, and Antonella Gabiele.
Frank was retired with over 25 years of service as a machinist with the Harris Corporation. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, having participated in the campaigns to liberate Naples, Rome, and the North Apennines. He was an active member of the Christopher Columbus Club, and the Sons of Italy.
A Funeral Mass will beheld 10:30 AM Friday, August 12, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Church, 2300 S. Smithville Rd., Dayton Ohio 45420. Family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30AM prior to services at church.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Vitas Innovative Hospice Care or The Hospice of Dayton.
