Elmer Franklin Porter Age: 90 of Centerville, Ohio Passed away on Tuesday, January 28th, 2025 at Hospice of Dayton. Frank was born on October 4th, 1934, in Oneida, Tennessee to the late George and Rose (McCartt) Porter.After graduating high school, he served in the United States Air Force and then attended Tennessee Tech University, graduating with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Frank was a long time employee of, and retired from, General Motors. He was also an active member of Rean Meadows Baptist Church and then First Baptist Church of Kettering for many years serving in numerous ministries including teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, serving as a deacon, and participating in a number of mission trips. He was a proud Tennesseean, and his wardrobe consisted of mostly Tennessee Vols fan gear. He loved traveling, playing cards with friends, eating ice cream and pastries, watching football, basketball, and baseball and watching his grandchildren participate in their various activities.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Porter, and his second wife, Rosa Porter; brothers George Porter, Thomas Porter, James Porter, Brad Porter and Carl Porter; sisters Virginia Porter and Jo Ann Woods; son-in-law Mark Klug.
He is survived by: Children: Roseanne Flanders (Tommy), Ricki Youngkin (Jeremy), Regina Hazlett (Dave), and Rhonda Klug.
Grandchildren: Kameron, Corey, Parker, Addison, Faith, Zarianna, Marcus, Kasey, Kourtney, Kristen, Kelly, Mark, Nick, and Emily.
Brothers: Ray (Judy) Porter, William (Beth) Porter, and Tory (Jodie) Porter
Sister-in-laws: Priscilla Phillips and Sylvia Porter
Countless nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
His love and light in this world will be missed by all that knew him but we know we will all be together again through our faith in Christ.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 10th, 2025 at 12 P.M. at First Baptist Kettering Church located at 3939 Swigart Rd in Dayton, OH, with burial immediately following at Dayton National Cemetery.
Family will host a meal for friends and family back at First Baptist Church Kettering after the burial.
