Francis J. Gravelle
December 5, 1943 — October 27, 2016
Gravelle, Francis J. (Fran), age 72, of Dayton, unexpectedly went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 27, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Martha Gravelle; daughter, Pamela Gravelle; and siblings, Harriet Ferguson and Frederick Gravelle.
Fran retired from NCR with over 33 years of service. After retirement, he worked at Rich Products, Meijer Distribution Center, U.S. Postal Service, and Panasonic. He was an avid bike rider who was also passionate about Indiana Hoosiers basketball, Cincinnati Reds baseball, and he also enjoyed watching professional soccer on TV. Fran was a blood donor for over 40 years and had recently donated his 200th pint. He had been attending Huber Heights First Baptist Church since July 2008, and was previously a long-time member of Arlington United Methodist Church in Brookville.
He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Carol; daughters, Cheryl Gravelle (Ruben Lea), Sandra (Don) Smith; sons, Brian (Beth) Gravelle, Kevin (Traci) Gravelle; grandchildren, Jennifer Gravelle, Bo (Melissa) Sharp, Kayla Gravelle, David Soderman, Thomas Smith, Pamela Smith, Kristen Gravelle, Connor Gravelle, Benjamin Gravelle, Ethan Gravelle, and Elise Gravelle; three great-grandchildren; His brothers: John (Katie) Gravelle, Jeff (Carrol) Gravelle; and sister-in-law Frances Gravelle mother-in-law, Franny Bowyer; sister-in-law, Sandra (David) Cooney; brothers-in-law, Roger (Roxie) Bowyer, Mark (Cathy) Bowyer, Gary (Teresa) Bowyer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call 4:00pm until 7:00pm on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home 4104 Needmore Rd. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Monday, October 31, 2016 at Huber Heights First Baptist Church 5875 Shull Rd, Dayton, OH 45424 where friends may also call one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Huber Heights First Baptist Church, or to Golf Beach Baptist Church, 10620 Hutchison Blvd., Panama City, FL 32407 in Fran's memory.
