SMALLEY, Francis F. died Friday, August 10, 2007 at the age of 93. He was born in Celina, Ohio December 3, 1913 to Dillon and Pearl Smalley. He was a graduate of Celina High School and Purdue University where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. While at Purdue he played in the Purdue marching band and the symphony orchestra. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Francis was a registered professional engineer and land surveyor in the State of Ohio, and worked in the family contracting business building highways in Ohio and Indiana. He was a member of Normandy United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife Marjorie to whom he had been married 68 years. He is also survived by four children and their spouses: Larry and wife Kathleen Smalley of Texas, Harriett and husband Jim Ellis of Centerville, James and wife Nancy Smalley of California, Dennis and wife Renee Smalley of Illinois. There are thirteen wonderful grandchildren: Stephen Smalley, Jennifer Whittenberg, Nichole Leon, Caroline Leibl, Linda Simon, Susan Goddard, Ted Smalley, Brian Smalley, Matt Swendiman, Chelsey Chapelle, Jennifer Smith, Bill Wesolic and Chris Wesolic; There are also twenty-six great grandchildren, one sister Patricia and husband Dr. Bill Cron of Indiana. Preceding him in death were one sister Catherine and six brothers: George, Dick, Ed, John, Marc and Luke. Funeral services will be at Normandy United Methodist Church with Pastor Tom Harry officiating. The church is located at 450 W. Alex-Bell Road, Dayton, Ohio 45459. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at 2:00 pm. The service will follow at 3:00 pm and burial will be at Woodland Cemetery.
