Francis A. "Hank" Florence
Age 85, of Dayton, passed away Friday, September 5, 2008, at Maria-Joseph Living Care Center. He was born December 25, 1922 in Dayton, the son of Frank & Lena (Heilig) Florence.
Hank was a U. S. Army veteran having served during WW II. He was a life-time member of the American Legion Post # 746, and was also a member of VFW Post # 6560, Tipp City Eagles; and the Belmont Chapter of AARP. He retired from NCR and Duriron.
Hank was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Hallie (Smith) Florence; his second wife, Geraldine (Gulasa) Florence; and by seven brothers, Frank Jr, Robert, Fredrick, Herman, Philip, Joseph & Bernard.
Survivors include seven children, Suzanne (Gary) Bacon of Dayton, Vincent A. (Carol) & Ronald D. (Cheryl) Gulasa, both of Florida, Brenda K. (Howard) Hill of Hillsboro, Patty A. (Jim) Radel of Lima, Sally L. Herman of South Dakota, Teresa R. (Brian) Huntley of Dayton; 18 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and by one sister, Rita (Jerry) Abele of Dayton.
The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday (9/8) at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, Ohio 45439. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. Del Staigers at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, at Queen of Martyrs Church, 4144 Cedar Ridge Road, Dayton, Ohio 45414. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
