Frances L. Rhoades, beloved Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma, passed away on March 25, 2012 at the age of 91. She was born on March 10, 1921 in Indiana, PA to the late Michael and Nellie Volk. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Herbert Rhoades; two brothers; and four sisters.
Frances is survived by her children, Johnny (Connie) Rhoades, Ronald (Ruth) Rhoades, and Connie Krivacek and her dear friend Ray Sortman; three grandchildren, Scott Rhoades, Julie (Jeff) Berk and Michelle Krivacek; three great grandchildren, Mason and Madelyn Berk and Kaden Krivacek; sister, Rose Sorrell, of Miamisburg; brother, Bobby (Maggie) Volk, of Blairsville, PA; a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and good friends.
Frances retired from the Mad River Local School District after years of service. She had a heart of gold and was loved by everyone who knew her. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and nurses at The Sanctuary at Wilmington Place for their loving care and support. "We met you as strangers and ended up a family." Donations may be made in Frances' memory to The Hospice of Dayton.
A funeral service will take place on Wednesday March 28, 2012 at 10:30 am at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior from 9:30-10:30 am. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Shoup Cemetery.
