Ward, Forrest W., age 97, of Kettering, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2014. Forrest was born July 29, 1917 in Dayton Ohio to the late Charles & Matilda (Speidel) Ward.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Zitta J.; one brother and two sisters. Forrest is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Roger (Marilyn) Ward; daughters and sons-in-law: Deanna (George) Seifried & Anita (Bernie) Groeschke; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.
Forrest was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church in Kettering. He was a United States Army Veteran serving during WWII and attended the Honor Flight in Washington, D.C. He retired from NCR with 40 years of service and after retirement volunteered at Good Samaritan Hospital for over 20 years. Forrest was a proud member of the Dayton Area Bowling Hall of Fame, bowling his first 300 game in 1938 at the age of 21.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 4500 Ackerman Blvd., Kettering. Interment will follow Mass at Calvary Cemetery in Kettering. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday morning from 10:00 A.M. until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, in memory of Forrest. Arrangements in care of Newcomer Funeral Home – South Chapel.
