Fonda Furtick, 56, of Dayton, loving mother and devoted grandmother, passed away May 11, 2020. She was born June 20, 1963, in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of the late Willie J. Moore, Sr. and Ethel (Slaughter) Moore.
Fonda had worked for the Montgomery County Sheriff Dept as a Warrants Clerk for 14 years. Fonda was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses April 1, 1995. She attended the Salem, Northwest (Wolfcreek) and Northridge congregations for a combination of 25 years. She enjoyed sharing her beliefs and witnessing to those around her. Fonda was intelligent and insightful, an avid reader and liked to belly dance, walk, needlepoint and write poetry. She was a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
Fonda was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Willie J. Moore, Jr. and Stevenson A. Moore.
Fonda is survived by her son, Derrick "D.J." Furtick, Jr.; grandson, Derrick Furtick III; twin sister, Freda (Tony) Woods; sisters, Abreal Phillips, Velma Moore, Judith Moore; brothers, Jeffery L. (Lois) Moore, Garry (Edna) Moore and Johnny (Tameka) Moore; nephew/brother, Dwight Lamar Riley; special niece, Deona (Chico) Terry; dear cousin, Valerie Crenshaw; dear friends, Romon Clark and Melissa Sibert; a host of other family and friends.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 pm-3:00pm on Saturday, May 16, 2020, at Newcomer Funeral Home-North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, where services will begin at 3:00 pm with Brother Robert Wright officiating.
