Florene Johnson

In loving memory of Florene Johnson, age 86, Florene, whose maiden name was Blankenship, was born on March 26, 1938, in West Liberty, KY, and peacefully passed away on June 4 2024, in Dayton, OH. Daughter of the late George and Artie (Cox) Blankenship.

Known for her loving and caring nature, Florene's presence brought joy and comfort to everyone around her. Her kind-hearted personality and unwavering support made her a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.  She was a faithful Christian for many years with the passion of singing and song writing. Florene's legacy of love and compassion will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. In honoring Florene's memory, let us celebrate the life of a remarkable woman who made a difference in the lives of others through her kindness, generosity, and her faith. May she rest in peace knowing that she was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In addition to her parents, Florene was preceded in death by her 7 siblings. 

Florene is survived by her daughter, Loretta (James) Denney, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Lisa (Michael) Simmons, Michael (Lora) Padilla, and Megan (Buddy) James; 7 great grandchildren;1 great great grandson; brother, Bernal (Diane) Blankenship; as well as numerous other family members and friends. 

A visitation will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024 from 12:30pm to 1:30pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio 45424. A funeral service will begin at 1:30pm at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at New Carlisle Cemetery.
