Evelyn L. Taylor

June 16, 1934 — January 25, 2025

Evelyn L. Taylor, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, entered eternal rest on January 25, 2025, in Beavercreek, Ohio, at the age of 90. She was born on June 16, 1934, in Blue Ash, Ohio, the daughter of Elijah and Evelyn Weatherford. Evelyn’s early years laid the foundation for what would become a life filled with love, devotion, and service to her family.

A proud graduate of East High School in 1952 and later attended Central State University, Evelyn encompassed a spirit of determination and grace. Throughout her career in retail in the Xenia area, she radiated warmth and kindness, forging connections with everyone she met.

Evelyn was best known not only for her accomplishments in work and education but also for her remarkable qualities as a devoted housewife, mother, and caregiver to family as well as others in the community. Her proudest accomplishment was undoubtedly her family, which she nurtured with unwavering love and support. She was a guiding light in their lives, always ensuring her children felt cherished and safe.

Evelyn had a talent for creating joy in even the simplest moments. She loved to sing and play the piano, often playing during family reunions, where her beautiful melodies filled the air with happiness. Her passion for sewing allowed her to express her creativity, while her participation in the Church Choir showcased her deep faith and commitment to her community.

Evelyn is survived by her loving children: Michael V. Taylor Sr., Lesa Taylor DeVond, Kenneth W. Taylor, Brenda L. Taylor, and Jesse V. (Sharreen) Taylor III. She was blessed with 15 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. Her legacy of love continues through them, and she will forever remain in their hearts.

Evelyn's spirit joins her beloved husband, Jesse V. Taylor Jr., as well as her dear daughter, Carol Austin, and her daughter-in-law, June Taylor. She is also reunified with her six brothers and six sisters, whom she dearly missed during her lifetime.

As we remember Evelyn, we honor a life that was a testament to love, kindness, and dedication. She passed away peacefully, leaving behind a world enriched by her laughter, wisdom, and unwavering compassion. Her memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
