HOGDEN, Evelyn M. (McGowen), age 71, of Beavercreek, passed away Friday, March 26,2010. She was born December 23, 1938 in Jackson, Mississippi. She graduated from Ole Miss in 1959 and 1976 with degrees in Speech and Theatre. She taught high school in 1960 and became an assistant service club director in 1961. She married Vernon C. Hogden in 1962. Evelyn was active in the Officers' Wives' Club acting as president of that organization in 1980-1981. She was a former advisor for the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. Evelyn studied the old master technique of oil painting while stationed in Germany. Evelyn was an avid quilter and a member of the Quilting Club at WPAFB. She was an active member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Dayton. Vernon and Evelyn had three children: David (Sandra) Hogden, Laura (Vincent) Schmidt, and Susan (Jeffrey) Phelps; 8 grandchildren, Pascal, Tiffany, Christina, Stephen, Patrick, Clara, Amanda, and Emily; great-grandson, Adrian and one sister, Marilyn Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hardy R. and Celeste (McCain) McGowen. Rev. Michael Kreutzer officiating.
