Evelyn Josephine Fabian Hamer passed away peacefully on March 17, two months after celebrating her 100th birthday. She was able to be at home up through the night before her passing, and she spent that evening eating her favorite mint chocolate chip ice cream.
She was born on January 16, 1924 in Chicago, IL to the late Joseph and Catherine Fabian. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Theodore A. Hamer Jr. , and her siblings Elaine Katzberger, Joseph Fabian and David Fabian.
Evelyn is survived by her children Thomas Hamer, Theodore A. Hamer III (Barbara), and Karen Hamer Wareham (Marshall). She is also survived by her grandchildren Elizabeth, Grant, Alec and Grey, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was a resident of Dayton for the past 60 years. A registered nurse, she spent many years working in the newborn nursery at Kettering Memorial Hospital. Evelyn was devoted to her family, a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, a dedicated community volunteer, and a founder of the Good Neighbor House. She was an avid seamstress, gardener, and a voracious reader.
Evelyn was deeply loved and will be forever missed by her family and friends.
