Eugene M. Poindexter

Eugene M. Poindexter, age 93 of Ripley, formerly of Dayton, passed away on December 9, 2020. He was born October 5, 1927 in Vandalia, Ohio. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Louise Poindexter; daughters: Joyce Sizemore and Sharon Sammons; grandson, Brian Sizemore; and many brothers and sisters.
Gene is survived by his daughter, Linda Handwerker; grandchildren: Christopher, Jonathan, Mark, Tammy and Andrea; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
Gene was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, WWII. He retired from Schwerman Trucking. Gene was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He had a home along the Ohio River and loved spending time there. Gene raced cars during his younger years and he loved to fish.
Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 am on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road. Graveside service will immediately follow at approximately 11:15 am at Valley View Memorial Gardens.
