Eugene John Spiler, age 88, passed Away Friday, January 21, 2011 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
Born June 18, 1922 in Rochester, New York to parents Josephine and Henry Szpiler. Worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Served in the United States Navy during WWII in the south pacific.
Graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Retired from General Motors; Rochester products, Delco Products, Kettering, Ohio.
Resided in Rochester, New York, Kettering, Ohio, and Grove City, Ohio. Member of VFW post 9927, Kettering, Ohio.
Member of the NRA. Member of the Hueston Sailing Association, Oxford, Ohio.
Survived by sons, Bruce ( Nancy ), Kevin, Mark, of Columbus, Ohio; former wife, Florence; brother, James, Banning, California; friend Doris Bergstrom, Franklin, Ohio.
Predeceased by brothers, Edward, Lawrence.
Friends may call Thursday, January 27, 2011 from 6-8pm at Newcomer Funeral Home South Chapel (3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, OH 45439).
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, January 28, 2011 at 11am at St. Henry Catholic Church. Friends are welcome to gather one hour prior to the mass at church.
Burial will take place at the Dayton National Cemetery at 2pm.
