Eugene F. Gulley

Eugene F. Gulley, known affectionately as Gene, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2024, in his hometown of Dayton, Ohio. He was born on January 19, 1926, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.  Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Mavis Gulley; daughter and son-in-law: Jeanne and Larry Chilton; son Glenn Gulley; and grandson Benjamin Gulley;

Gene led a remarkable life filled with dedication and service. After a distinguished military career where he proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years, including deployments in World War II and the Korean War, Gene transitioned to civilian life, where he devoted 25 years to DP&L.

Described as sweet, kind, funny, and gentle by those who knew him best, Gene touched the lives of many with his warmth and compassion. His charming personality and quick wit will always be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Gene is survived by his son Ben Gulley (Barbara); daughter Barbara Thompson; grandchildren: Michelle Allison (Steve), Christina Palmer (Richard), Hannah Little, and Zachary Little (Lauren); as well as numerous great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 9:00-10:30 am on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, where the funeral service will begin at 10:30 am.  Burial with military honors will follow at Medway Cemetery.  Contributions may be made in Gene's memory to the Humane Society.  To share a memory of Gene or leave a special message for his family, please sign the online guestbook provided.
